The first full cycle of the moon in summertime begins today.
This morning I sat on my pillow, with rose blossoms in front of me from the Spring. Dried out, papery, fragile. We are now deep into the days of Summer and the heat. I feel wistful, a little nostalgic for this Spring. Three moons of growth, realization, joy. I can still smell their fragrance. What has had its time and has now passed. What lives on. I smile to myself, paying attention to when experiences resonate so viscerally with me so as to change my mood. Energy. Cellular structure. Pure magic. I honor these things. Memories, people, times. Not to diminish my now reality, but maybe to suck the marrow out of this stuff, completely. I explore it as I relish these feelings. I bless myself with their presence in my body and heart, I breathe them in and allow them to help me be MORE present, here and now. Outrageous. Inspired. Authentic. On this new moon in Cancer, I dwell in the honoring of all. I allow these things to help me find the balance. Of the then, and the now. New moons are always emotional, but the watery sign of Cancer that the moon has landed in today is pretty impactful on our emotions. Can you feel the buzz? You know I love practical solutions; and with this moon we are sitting with today, I am finding it really important to get ahold of balance. This Cancer moon can give us some great motivation to create new things with all this summertime energy. Each and every astrological sign has a higher, and lower, vibration or energy. Cancer brings us a gentle, nurturing mother-type energy, which can be gentle and supportive, or it can sink into its lower forms, as an extreme form of smothering energy. These two ends of the stick remind us to take greater effort in our own self-care, so as to keep ourselves flying along the higher vibes. When we care for ourselves, we feel nurtured, and we can relax into our relationships, go more gently, flow with situations more easily, feel and act more compassionately...finding creativity in how we address any challenges. Oils that are helping me a lot right now, which may also help you include some topical, some aromatic/inhaled, and some more taken internally. We can access the amygdala, our emotional seat in the brain, and reach our desired emotional states using the olefactory system.1 Here are some suggestions that are helping me today: may they help spur some inspiration for you! 1. The mosquitos and horse flies are out in force this year, with all our water discharge from the strong snow pack. To find support for your own healthy boundaries, with bugs or other energy suckers, use Terrashield topically, or others like OnGuard, Oregano, Tea tree, Yarrow-POM, or the kiddos’ Stronger blends. I was glad to have these over my last weekends with camping, running, hiking, and volunteering in the great outdoors! 2. To find relief from harshness of our selves or others, you can apply Marjoram, Geranium, or Cardamom. I recommend using these aromatically and topically, with deep breaths as you envision a gentle refuge from the glare of negativity. 3. As always, I recommend taking time to sit quietly and access feelings of being worthy and deserving. When we take the time with these oils, deliberately soothing and cherishing ourselves, by applying them to our pulse points and taking deep breaths in, we exude a balanced healing gently to those around us: Rose, Myrrh, Frankincense, Geranium, Ylang-Ylang, Clary Calm, Magnolia, Naiouli, Hygge blends. You've probably heard me talk about biohacking? ...I am reminded of the ease of using our essential oils to help soothe the big feelings: when we calm our central nervous system, it also brings down cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and lowers insulin (creating more metabolic balance), brings more clear mindedness, more presence, more hormone balance, more serotonin, easier weight loss, better sleep. This excites me right now, all these benefits and more are here to help us grow into our best selves. I’ve been learning how to reach these great goals with intermittent fasting as well, and If you are interested in learning more, let me know and I’ll share my fave new favorite book with you! This is your permission slip to take a little extra time for self care and healing, as this new moon will be with us energetically for another couple of days. Posted with a little extra love and nourishment today. Your Friend and Fan, Lynell 1 I highly recommend the app (or book) called Essential Emotions. You can look up the oils on your shelf and learn about them, or reverse engineer the process and find the emotions you wish to be feeling, in the index, and cross-reference the oils that will help cause those emotions to come through. I am rooting you on to live the life you dream of!
